Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is about learning coping mechanisms to deal with emotional overwhelm by using the cognitive part of your brain.

Positive Psychology

It is the study of all aspects of living, thinking and behaviour that affect our well-being. Centred on scientific research, positive psychology provides us with evidence of the qualities and skills that significantly contribute to a fulfilling, healthy and flourishing life. It is not just about being ‘more positive’ but more about becoming the best of ourselves. It is helping to understand and learn how we can experience all areas of our lives better. Everything that is the focus and study of positive psychology is relevant to how we live and more importantly informs us how we choose to live.

We All Have an Unconscious Inner World

Psychodynamic models take as their starting point the proposition that we have an ‘inner world’ that has a powerful influence on how we think, feel and behave. Our inner world is comprised of feelings, memories, beliefs and fantasies. It is partly conscious meaning that we know about it and have access to it. But it is largely unconscious meaning that we are by definition unaware of it and do not have access to it so easily. At one time, the existence of an unconscious mind was itself controversial. However, today advances in neuroscience have brought the unconscious into mainstream psychology and unconsciousness awareness is recognised in many cognitive psychological theories.

Psychodynamic refers to the way in which the psyche (as mind, emotions, spirit / self) is seen as active, and not static.
